The Atkins Diet
If you are have tried normal low fat conventional diets,
without success, then it may be time to consider the Atkins
Diet – this is based on totally different nutritional
principles, yet many people have had considerable success
with it.
Normal diets, just convert what goes into the body into calories,
and then make some adjustment for what is burned off by the
metabolism. From this perspective the Atkins Diet makes no
sense at all, as it recommends a high fat intake which is
very high in calories.
However, followers of Atkins would point out that if one
dramatically reduces carbohydrate intake, then that affects
the insulin levels in the body which in turn, totally changes
the way that our body deals with fat. Instead of storing it,
it is then released into our normal bodily waste.
It does have a few advantages such as:
a) You need never go hungry again, as you can always eat
as much low carb food until you are satisfied
b) Food which you may have dreamed about for years is now
available at every meal
c) Your appetite will naturally reduce, once you have gone
through the withdrawal symptoms of your addiction to carbohydrates.
d) If you stick to the diet it is quite likely that you may
lose a lot of weight – more than you ever dreamed possible.
It is really worth sticking to your weight loss goals and
persevering through any hardships because once you lose a
few pounds, you will have so much more energy, and feel so
much better. You will feel more attractive, and therefore
more confident. This feeling of confidence totally changes
how other people relate to you.
